What is Aquamate?
Aquamate is an online plant shop dedicated to bringing you the most unique plants in the world – aquatic plants! These unique plants live in some of the most remote tropical regions of the world – and now, your window sill! Using our kits, you'll be able to recreate the riverbanks of the Amazon Rainforest at home!
What are aquatic plants?
Aquatic plants grow all over the world – both below and above the water! This unique adaptation allows these plants to grow along riverbanks and streams where water levels change frequently from tides or rainfall. Rich with texture and color, each species is unique to its environment.
What makes Aquamate plants special? Can't I just buy some plants from the fish store and put them in a vase full of water?
All of our plants are grown on substrate balls, also known as wabi-kusa. These balls are hand-made and carefully crafted to provide your plants with essential nutrients and beneficial bacteria, ensuring that your plant is as healthy and vibrant as possible.
In addition to keeping your plants healthy, wabi-kusa balls make it incredibly easy to acclimate your plant to its new environment, so you can start enjoying its beauty right away.
So, while you can buy plants from the fish store and place them in a vase and add water, the likelihood of them thriving is slim.
Do I need to supplement light for my plants?
Most aquatic plant species can thrive by a window in direct sunlight, but also will grow exponentially under affordable grow bulbs placed into desk lamps!
What kind of water should I give my aquatic plants?
Ideally, filtered water will ensure no chlorine or chloramines effect your plants. Water conditioner should also be used to treat your tap water and make it aquatic plant safe!
How often should I water my plant?
Top off the water in your vase as needed to keep your plant hydrated, changing the water fully every two weeks. You can't over-water these plants!
